Arnprior is getting noticeably greener. Town council has awarded the 2026 Tree Planting Project tender to Orange Paysagement Inc. for $110,235.34 including HST — a contract that will see roughly 180 trees planted across 13 sites in town.
Here’s the part taxpayers will like: $81,230 of the cost is covered by a grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Growing Canada’s Community Canopies tree-planting program, meaning the majority of the project is federally funded.
The project also includes accessible QR-code signage in park areas, designed to help residents learn about the role trees play in urban environments — scan a sign, learn about the tree in front of you.
Why it matters: beyond shade and street appeal, an expanded urban canopy is a long-term investment in property values and cooling costs — and in a town whose crown jewel is an old-growth grove, it fits.
