Here’s a tidy loop: your food scraps leave the curb, and come back as compost for your garden.
That’s the model behind Just Good Compost, an organics diversion service that began collecting food waste in Arnprior in November 2025. Founder Dr. Will Affleck explained the operation to town council at its April 13 meeting: the company collects food waste from residents and businesses, processes it into finished compost, and returns it to customers for their gardens.
Started in Almonte in 2022, Just Good Compost is also a social enterprise focused on providing employment to people with developmental disabilities — making an environmental and a social impact at the same time, as the company told council.
Why it matters: for households wanting to keep food waste out of the landfill, a subscription service like this is one of the few options in town.
