When and where council meets

Arnprior Town Council holds regular meetings on Monday evenings, generally twice a month [VERIFY: confirm 2nd/4th Monday pattern and start time against the Town’s current Calendar of Meetings], at Town Hall, 105 Elgin Street West. Meetings are open to the public, and recordings are posted to the Town’s YouTube channel.

  • Attend or watch: meetings are public, in person or via the YouTube recordings.
  • Appear as a delegation: residents can request to speak to council on an agenda item — apply through the Clerk’s office in advance [VERIFY: deadline and form].
  • Public meetings: Planning Act matters (zoning, official plan amendments) include a formal public comment stage — these are your best chance to influence development decisions.
  • Write to council: correspondence to the Clerk can be added to the public record.

Decode the jargon

  • By-law: a municipal law. Most council decisions become one.
  • Official Plan amendment: a change to the town’s long-term land-use blueprint — usually means a development is coming.
  • Zoning amendment: changes what can be built on a specific property.
  • Delegation: a person or group presenting to council.
  • Reserve fund: the town’s savings accounts, earmarked by purpose.
